News and Notes March 8th
Running off at the keyboard while waiting for that extra hour of daylight to kick in next weekend. Boom.
It is more than obvious that Spring Fever is officially making its way across the landscape. I was out this weekend here and there and witnessed more than a few green clad revelers in town already. Welcome to Savannah.
What I am also seeing (and being told about) are the number of restaurants that are full to capacity with no regard to spacing or mask mandates. They are not required to and frankly it is clear they are not going to. Your job as a patron as we navigate what are hopefully the last several months of this national nightmare is to take your money where you feel most comfortable. Period. Because nothing you see on the street right now is going to change and everyone’s threshold for pain is different.
There’s a new food truck coming on the scene in Savannah that we are excited about. It’s a “Ghost Kitchen” food truck and the concept is brilliant. It allows the culinary talent in this city to get out their home kitchens and do some fun creative stuff.
The brisket at Erica Davis Low Country (pictured above) may be the best in Savannah. Yeah, I said it.
I never recommend television. But if you love Italian food, you should be watching Stanley Tucci’s tour of Italy on CNN. Only one hour, every Sunday night. Very well done.
Troupial is a brand new Venezeulan coffee shop on Whitaker Street near Victory Drive. 2405 Whitaker to be exact. Visitors to the Forsyth Farmers Market probably already know about their fresh baked goodies. Now you don’t have to wait until Saturdays. See more here.

We wanted to wait a little while before letting everyone know that our Eat It and Like It Podcasts are back up and running full speed. We’ve had chats with several people on the food scene both sides of the Savannah River. Click here to see the line up and don’t forget to subscribe to Apple Podcasts to get them.
Speaking of subscriptions, click here to subscribe to our Youtube Channel. The area’s best food-related video content directly to your inbox whenever there is a new video to share. They are dropping about once or twice a week.
For example, If you missed it a couple of weeks ago, Savannah’s Desposito’s has been sold. It is being cleaned up and getting ready for a Summer re-open. See our story here.

Downtown Savannah’s best Happy Hour food right now is at The Fitzroy. The bad news? It runs 3pm-5pm Thursday-Monday. Good news if you can get there though. Half price all of their bar eats and drinks.

Meanwhile, if you work in Food and Beverage in Savannah, Monday nights are your night at Bella Napoli on State Street downtown. 50% your entire tab. Food and drink. No strings attached. Full menu. Full wine list.
Drink It and Like It: Debellation Brewing Company in Richmond Hill is on final approach. They had hoped to be open for St. Patrick’s Day festivities but that’s not going to happen. The good news is sooner rather than later for them. Follow them here.
Follow us at Drink It and Like It on Instagram here. All of the fun that is fit to drink. Both alcoholic and non.

Also, Burnt Church Distillery is now open in Bluffton. We haven’t visited yet, but we are told it is simply gorgeous.
