Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd continues to thrive with opening of new Coffee Shop

Savannah’s newest coffee shop is open for business. Origin Coffee Bar celebrated it’s soft
opening of it’s flagship location last Friday, March 10 with a great turnout from the community.

For the next few weeks, owners Elise and Matt Higgins plan to focus on the front of house,
serving coffee, pastries and mocktails. At the end of March, they’ll have their grand opening and
will roll out the food menu.

The coffee menu features classics like lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, pour overs, and more. The
non-alcoholic cocktail menu features three drinks: the Green Garden, the Espresso Martini and
the Blue Amethyst, each made with NA liquor.

There is also a seasonal menu. The spring menu features three espresso drinks and one
mocktail. I tried two of the four seasonal drinks.

Eden’s Tonic is Origin’s take on a springtime espresso tonic. It’s iced, with hibiscus, grapefruit
and espresso. It’s fresh, crisp and delightful. The Golden Hour is also on the spring menu, and
seems to be quickly becoming a customer favorite. It’s made up of cold brew over ice, topped
with vanilla and orange cold foam. This was my favorite thing I tasted.

Also on the seasonal menu is the Thyme After Thyme, a mocktail made with NA whiskey,
espresso, vanilla, thyme and milk. The Cappuccino Creme Brulee is made with espresso, milk
and bruleed raw sugar. I can’t wait to go back and taste these, too.

Pastries are from Savannah-favorite Auspicious Baking Co. and are in such high demand, that
Origin has already doubled their order. I had the ham and cheese croissant, and it was
heavenly.

The space is bright, clean and beautiful. There is plenty of seating from barstools and booths to
couches and nest swings. There is also an insanely cool neutral JULU mural inside. It’s the first
neutral work by JULU that I’ve seen, and WOW. I felt cool and right at home working from the
corner booth in the back all day.

Origin offers pastries from Auspicious Baking Company. Brunch menu coming soon

The flagship location sits on the corner of the West Broad development at 356 Martin Luther
King Jr. Blvd. in Savannah. There is outdoor seating on the sidewalk, and there is a surprising
amount of parking. Customers can park on the street, or in the West Broad parking lot around
the corner.

Origin Coffee Bar is currently open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Monday. They are
closed on Tuesday.

We should be getting a look at their Brunch menu in a few weeks. At which point we will circle back and let you know if you will Eat It & Like It.

We know you will. In the meantime, stop by Origin Coffee Bar for The Golden Hour!
