Eat It and Like It Foodie Awards return to celebrate Savannah’s Best

At some point or another over the last couple of years, we’ve all fallen victim to the same miscalculation. Time.

How many times have you mentioned an event or milestone or day in your life and said to someone “Wow, that was 3 years ago already!” Only to be reminded that it was actually closer to 5 or 6 years since it has happened.

What is it that they say about time flying?

We’ve been caught up in that web of time travel the last couple of years with Eat It and Like It. When the 2020 shut down happened we were jussssst about to roll out our plans for our 2020 Foodie Awards. The world shut down and that was that. Since then, we watched so many restaurants continue to struggle with limited staffing, limited menus and so much more, that it never felt quite right to bring back what we believe is Savannah’s best celebration of its food scene.

We can say that definitively now that the Savannah Food and Wine Festival has sailed off into the sunset. For now at any rate.

The Eat It and Like It Foodie Awards will return in April. April 23rd to be exact. It’s a celebration of Savannah’s best. Yes, this is our ‘Best of’ event and it has traditionally been one of the best parties of the year. Why? It’s simple.

We award winners based on merit. Not public “voting” or advertising dollars. A small group of us debate and discuss what we believe to be Savannah’s best. We tell our winners a month in advance that they’ve won, then they show up the night of the event, grab a trophy take some pictures and enjoy the night. Courtesy of Eat It and Like It and our generous sponsors.

There’s no awards ceremony. There are no winners on stage. There are no speeches. No, The Foodie Awards are the after party. Open to the public, of course.

Talk about time flying, it came to my attention that our 1st Foodie Awards party was in 2013, mid week because we were a little concerned that a brand new idea wouldn’t draw as many people as we would like. You have to remember, Eat It and Like It as a whole was only 3 years old at the time. Well, we sold that night out, 200 plus. Not only that, but we’ve sold out every Foodie Awards event since and we have no reason to believe 2023s version will be any different.

One of the biggest reasons is the food will be serving that night. We were so thrilled to have Charleston’s The Darling Oyster Bar agree to provide some of their fantastic seafood plus Atlanta’s Grand Champion BBQ. If you haven’t had it yet, you are just going to have to trust me on that. Or ask someone who has.

The ticket window is now open. Previous attendees were given a one day heads up Tuesday for pre-sale and I’m guessing by the activity at the window they are excited this event is back. As are we. VIP SECTION IS SOLD OUT. Only General Admission remain.

This is going to be a great time. We look forward to seeing you there.
