Savannah’s Eat It and Like It Foodie Awards F.A.Q.

Because it has been a few years since we’ve thrown the party known as Savannah’s Best Night in Food -The Foodie Awards, we thought it would be a good opportunity to explain what it is and what the evening will be about.

*What are Foodie Awards?

The Eat It and Like It Foodie Awards is our ‘Best of’ event. It was held yearly ‘pre-2020.’

*How are winners chosen?

Myself and an anonymous panel of judges vote and then discuss winners in any number of categories. At our peak, we reached 45 categories. The 2023 edition will be smaller than that. Eventually, though, we expect to get back to that number. The most important part of our Foodie Awards is that they are entirely based on merit, not sponsorship. Never in the 10 years since our first event has a winner ever been approached to purchase an ad with us. Ever. And that will never change. We are very proud of that.

*When are winners notified/announced?

Winners will be announced Monday, March 19th. Winners are notified as quickly as possible that morning. Sometimes it doesn’t work out so smoothly and winners find out before we get to them.

*So there are no winners announced at the party on April 23rd?

Nope. Award ceremonies are boring. All winners will have known for a month that they are invited to the ‘after party’ which we consider The Foodie Awards to be. That way, they have a month to invite who they’d like to attend with them and plan to take a night off and enjoy themselves. It is Savannah’s true industry party put together for them. They grab their trophy upon arrival, take some photos and have a great time.

*So if the restaurant owners and chefs are having fun, who is providing the food?

We are very excited to announce that Charleston’s The Darling Oyster Bar will provide our raw bar and Atlanta’s Grand Champion BBQ will bring their award winning brisket and more. There will be plenty of other goodies too.

*What is included in the price of a ticket?

Early Bird General Admission tickets ($65) include 2 tickets good for a glass of wine or soft drink. Drink It and Like It VIP Garden Tickets ($100) include early admission, 2 wine tickets, a souvenir wine glass, access to a private seating area with a dedicated bar and additional food offerings. The evening will feature several cash bars set up throughout the Ships of the Sea Museum compound.

*Do the Foodie Awards sell out every year?

You’d better believe it. In many cases sold out weeks before the event. Rain or Shine. The Ships of the Sea Museum is prepared for it all.
