Tybee Island’s The Window: An instant hit

It’s somewhat hard to believe that it took someone this long to figure out this formula. Truth be told, it may exist on the island and we just don’t know about it, but I gotta believe that it isn’t as good.

Cutting completely to the chase, I’m talking about Tybee Island’s newest breakfast lunch grab and go window. It’s called The Window and there is no other way to describe it except as an instant hit.

The two young men who own the idea are Randy and Ryan. They are island veterans who had put in some time working in food and beverage. When the opportunity came up to take over this tiny kitchen behind a bar at the corner of Butler Avenue and Tybrisa Streets, they jumped on it. The put a window in the side of the building and went to work.

They opened for business right around Memorial Day Weekend. They opened quietly, but word spread across the island like it tends to do. Scratch made biscuits used for breakfast sandwiches as well as other baked goods. All of it grab and go from a window.

We got word a few days in that the quality was in place. These guys were really cutting corners, it was a solid-albeit small-operation. We checked it out and our sources were exactly right.

The breakfast sandwiches coming out of The Window on Tybee are as good as any you will find on the island. Made to order, too, which absolutely matters.

Bacon, ham or sausage egg and cheese as well as Chicken Biscuits, with or without hot honey are the headliners. There are fresh baked muffins, I even saw some cinnamon rolls on the menu. The menu sits on the wall right next to the window so you can order.

Our visit led to the quick 45 second video you see below. In the first 24 hours, it had north of 20,000 views on Facebook alone, to say nothing of Instagram or Tiktok. As I write this three days later, those views are about to cross 60,000. Fair to say The Window is a hit. Delicious too.

If you need any further proof, then consider the fact that in the first two days after we posted this reel to social channels, they sold out of everything they had. For two days in a row. It forced them to re-evaluate their prep plans and re-group for the heart of the summer season. I’m sure they will do quite well.

Be forewarned, there are no seats. No dining room. Just a window to grab and go. Judging by the immediate response on the island, it doesn’t really matter.

Get on down there and give one of these sandwiches a try. You will absolutely Eat It and Like It.
