Over the last couple of months, we’ve gotten a handful (maybe 4) emails from you, our supporters and readers, that your user experience on this website had become, let’s say, less than ideal. In short, you were seeing too many ads. I believe one gentleman used the word ‘infested.’ I found that one most amusing considering the nature of the content around here.
Obviously, we looked into it and found it hard to disagree. Now that the issue has been fixed, I thought I’d take a minute to briefly explain what happened and share that the issue -we believe- has been addressed.
After a Summer (2023) of record shattering traffic, we contracted with a company that would allow us to monetize that traffic. A standard practice with online entities. We were promised it would be tasteful and wouldn’t impose on the user experience. Well, we all know now that this was not the case.
When we pushed back with this company mid-Fall, we were told this is standard early on as their software acclimates to our algorithms. Well, it never got better.
It was only after a demand to ‘make it stop!’ or we’d take our business elsewhere, did we get it fixed. In a matter of hours actually. Funny how that works, huh?
Long story short, we do believe we have the issue corrected. I took the time to share this here because if four of you took the time to shoot us a note, then there are very likely many more of you that feel the same way.
Will we see continue to see ads on the website? Of course we will. We spent nearly a decade essentially ad free and our business continues to grow.
We will, however, ask that you support our local sponsors, whether here or on television (Sundays, 12:30pm on WJCL-TV).
Thank you, as always, for you continued support. And here’s to a fabulous 2024. I cannot wait to share more on that.
Jesse

Thank you for taking action on the ads…though I know the importance of sponsorships.
I hate to say it, but the ads today are worse than ever! Really can’t read a sentence without ads in between and bordering the page. Please take another look.
