The Haunting at Starbird Brings a Month of Spooky Cocktails to Hilton Head Island
I got a look at the setup this week, and I think the island is in for a spooky month ahead.
Starbird HHI, tucked into the The Village at Wexford on Hilton Head Island, opened in May of 2025 and has quietly become a go-to for cocktails on the island. Now it’s going all in on Halloween with The Haunting.
This is a bigger deal than your average seasonal menu. The company behind The Haunting is selective about where it sets up, and Starbird is the only Haunting location in South Carolina. Savannah doesn’t even have one. If you want this experience, Hilton Head is where you’ll find it.
The concept draws from childhood haunted houses, glowing jack-o’-lanterns, vintage decorations and late-night horror movie marathons. Participating bars transform into immersive hideaways with over-the-top décor, spooky surprises, exclusive collectibles and original cocktails.

The cocktail names are half the fun. Making their debut are the Widow’s Whisper, Scream-sicle, Poison Apple, Liquid Lobotomy and Clown Pear-anoia. Skipping the booze? There are spirit-free options too. Limited-edition Haunting glassware is available for purchase, a nice souvenir if you collect this stuff.
It gives Hilton Head something different to do in October. We get plenty of fall events, but a full themed bar takeover is a nice change of pace for a date night, a girls’ night, or just a look at what a haunted cocktail bar feels like.
The Haunting runs through October 31st, which falls on a Saturday this year. I’m quite certain it will be a mob scene that night.
My call? Go earlier in the month, see the décor, try a few drinks, and grab a glass before they’re gone, then fill them with your own tricks and treats.
