If you’ve lived in Savannah for a while, you are well aware of Shabazz Seafood Restaurant.
This bright yellow building on the corner of Victory and MLK has been offering simple and delicious fried seafood since 1989. Now, thanks to the newest generation of the Shabazz family, it’s getting national attention.
Over the last few years, Kalifa Shabazz has been hard at work increasing the family seafood restaurant’s presence online.
Last year, Shabazz Seafood was listed as one of the eight best seafood restaurants in Savannah by Condé Nast Traveler Magazine.
“And then a random call comes through to the restaurant from a producer, and it got forwarded to me,” said Kalifa.
The producer told her he wanted to feature Shabazz Seafood on a show about fried food.
Now the restaurant is headed to streaming June 9th with Netflix’s new series Fresh, Fried & Crispy hosted by Daym Drops.
We’re excited to see what that means for the future of Shabazz Seafood Restaurant.
