SC Low Country News and Notes – March 25

Running off at the keyboard…

*The highly anticipated return of Lucky Rooster Kitchen and Bar with new Executive Chef David Landrigan will be on April 8th from 7pm until 9pm. They will have live music.

*For those that may have missed the flurry of announcements a few weeks ago, Lucky Rooster Kitchen and Bar was sold. Founder Clayton Rollison is no longer involved. Read about that here. The space is in very good hands, though. New ownership has brought a renewed energy and vision for the space while also keeping in mind what made Lucky Rooster so popular in the first place.

*There’s also a new chef at Chez Georges Bistro and Bar. Read about that here.

*I finally got my first bites in at Nood Good Mood Food (Noodle Bar) at Coligny Plaza this week. The crab rangoon was solid. The pork belly that came with the ramen same. I look forward to trying more but this is a welcomed addition to South end of the island. I spoke to the guys this week. I will share that chat next week.

*Meanwhile, if you didn’t notice, Nunzio Restaurant and Bar on New Orleans Road has added a roof to their outdoor seating. It has transformed from sitting on the porch for dinner to a full blown deck. It’s beautiful.

*One more note at Coligny Plaza, the burger at Earle of Sandwich (pictured above) is very quietly really, really good. It never gets mentioned among best on the island, but it is among the best I’ve had certainly.

*In Bluffton, Tio’s Latin American Kitchen is now open at 7 Venture Drive near the Buckwalter Kroger.

*Technical College of the Low Country has a ‘fast track’ Summer program they are accepting enrollment for now. It runs June 7-July 27th. Seven weeks of intense culinary training. A few different tracks available. Read more here.

*Maybe the best BBQ on the island at Fraser’s Tavern in Sea Pines. Seriously fabulous.

*Also at Sea Pines, if you missed it, demolition of the Quarterdeck is well underway. Plans are for the new QD remain Spring 2022.

*We got into a debate about wings on the island recently. Dry Dock Seafood, One Hot Mama’s and Hinchey’s. Do you have some others? email me. Tips@eatitandlikeit.com

*Make plans to join us Saturday’s at noon on WTOC-TV. For Eat It and Like It with Jesse Blanco. Follow us on social media. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
