Savannah’s Davenport House to host Southern Baker’s Discussion
The Davenport House Museum, a treasured Historic Savannah Foundation property that served as the birthplace of Savannah’s modern-day preservation movement, will host “A Sweet Southern Gathering: Baking in the American South,” featuring some of South’s most celebrated bakers.
This can’t-miss event for food lovers and history buffs will start with a panel discussion on the rich traditions and flavors that have shaped the South’s rich culinary heritage. Panelists include Anne Byrn, author of Baking in the American South; Cheryl Day, co-owner of Savannah, Ga.’s beloved Back in the Day Bakery; Marcia Thompson, restauranteur at the iconic Mrs. Wilkes’ Boarding House; and Martha Nesbit, accomplished Savannah food writer and author of Savannah Celebrations and Nibbles and Scribbles. Following the discussion, Byrn will sign copies of her book Baking in the American South.
Tickets are $50 per person and include a copy of Baking in the American South. To purchase tickets or to learn more about “A Sweet Southern Gathering” at the Davenport House Museum, please click HERE or visit davenporthousemuseum.org.
