In what is perhaps one of the more surprising announcements on Savannah’s food scene in the last year or so, one of the city’s more popular spots for a quick grab and go meal has announced they are closed. For good.
Cuban Window Cafe’s owner Cynthia Santana made the announcement early Saturday morning that they are closing their doors and don’t have any plans to return.
It is fair to say the news will come as a shock to many across town. In the roughly 18 months that they’d been open, Cuban Window developed a significant following for their inexpensive Miami-style Cuban take out meals. They had just launched a food truck late last year and had plans for expansion.
Cynthia tells me a lack of staffing or business were not an issue. Not at all. Instead, as her statement shares above, the issues are personal and she plans to take some time to re-assess her next move.
Cuban Window had already been closed for the week. Saturday’s announcement made it official that they would not return.
