There’s an art to making scones. It’s a fine balance of textures, flavors, and the right amount of moistness. When you find a good scone bakery, you don’t let them go. That’s what Savannah Scone Company is hoping to be for more people when they open their new location on 65th Street this Friday, February 25.
Savannah Scone company opened in July of 2019 out of a small kitchen. Sara, the founder and head baker, said they originally did online orders only that could be picked up or delivered.
“It just kept growing and growing, so in order to take care of the demand, we had to move into a commercial kitchen.”
Now you may have seen scones at Starbucks or your favorite local coffee and tea shops, but Savannah Scone Company promises something more.
“If it can be made out of a scone or into a scone, we will sell it,” said Sara.
Glimpsing at their menu or social media, you’ll find everything from lemon blueberry scones to unique creations like the Shamrocket scone and Peach Scobbler.
“Some people are obsessed with biscuits, and the scone is a lot like a biscuit, but you can really put anything in a scone and make it delicious. It can be savory. It can be sweet. It can be semi-sweet.”
Sara said she started with pumpkin scones, and her devotion to the British baked goods grew from there. Savannah Scone Company currently offers 72 different flavors on top of special flavors for holidays.
With the opening of their new location on 65th Street, Sara tells me people will be able to buy one single scone instead of committing to eight scones of the same flavor like they did when orders were delivery and pickup only.
“[Customers] will also be able to buy a variety pack, which has been a big request for a very long time.”
They’ve also added bite-sized scones called scone bits and scone pudding which is like bread pudding but made with leftover scones.

“We’re just super excited. This has been more fun than I can possibly explain to you and more work than I’ve ever done in my life, but it has been very rewarding and our customers are fantastic.”
