Savannah Greek Festival returns

The Savannah Greek Festival is fully back this year. Last year, they did carry-out food orders, and the festival was canceled entirely in 2020. But this year, everything that we’ve enjoyed about the festival will be back: the Greek grocery store, the marketplace, the dancing, and of course, the food.

“A lot of people have been wanting it, and of course, we like to do it. So we’re happy we’re going to be able to do it full-blown like we’ve done in the past,” said festival chair Tommy Danos.

This October, the Savannah Greek Festival will be back at St. Paul’s Hellenic Cneter for three days: the 6th, 7th, and 8th. You’ll be able to enjoy all the in-person events like the church tours, the Greek dancing, the Bakaliko (Greek grocery), and the gift market, but what everyone looks forward to every year is the food. There will be plenty of that.

Not only can you get a sampler platter of various Greek dishes, but there will also be Greek desserts and a refreshment bar with Greek coffee, wine, and beer.

“You’ll have several [food] lines that you can go through. You’ll have the combo line, which is where we have a sampler platter of a lot of the homemade Greek dishes. We’ll have an à la carte line where you can get exactly what you want. We’ll also have a bar that will have refreshments.”

There is no entry charge Thursday and Friday till 4 p.m. After that and on Saturday, it is $5.

If you can’t attend the festival but still want food, lunch will be available to preorder on the festival’s website starting October 3rd. You’ll also be able to choose the time and day you want to pick it up at the door on Henry Lane behind the Hellenic Center.
