SAV Brunch Guide – Gallery Espresso

THE CUISINE:
Straight-up, no two ways about it, coffee house. Bagels and some sandwiches early. Sandwiches and a dessert perhaps for the afternoon. It was a favorite of ours for offering real butter with toasted bagels once upon a time. Now we get pre-packaged squares that don’t melt well. Boo-hiss.

THE MOOD:
Laid back, comfortable. Largely populated with locals because of its location in the heart of the historic district along the Bull Street Corridor at Chippewa Square. Some tables and chairs, but a good amount comfortable ‘poofy’ chairs for relaxation. Even if they are a little… uh….is ‘weathered’ a good word? Walls covered in art for sale from local artists. A unique characteristic of Gallery Espresso.

BEST FOR:
We love Gallery for meetings. It’s comfortable and convenient with lots of windows looking out at one of the prettiest blocks in the district. Food is good. Coffees as well.

WHAT YOU’LL LOVE:
A purely locals feel. Nothing ‘touristy’ about Gallery Espresso. Located right in front of Chippewa Square, home to the spot where Forest Gump’s bench sat for the movie.

WHAT YOU WON’T:
Limited menu. It’s not really a spot for ‘lunch’ as it is a quick bite while enjoying Bull Street.
