Popping bubble tea during Dry January

Dry January is almost over, but if you’re still looking for a treat to share with friends that isn’t alcohol, Savannah has a variety of bubble tea cafes to choose from.

Bubble tea (or boba tea) is a tea-based drink with tapioca pearls or popping bubbles that add a little burst of flavor while you sip.

The drink started in Taiwan but has gained popularity here in the States. Savannah has seen quite a few places add it to their menu.

Shuga Girl already has the usual coffee and tea varieties, but they also have a rosehibiscus tea option that’s intriguing.

Fire Street Food offers many fruit-based bubble teas, and you can customize your drink. Just ask your server.

Bowls & Bubbles has both cold and hot options. This makes bubble tea perfect for any weather.

If you don’t want to go all the way downtown to get your bubble tea fix, don’t worry. There’s an option for those on the Southside.

Below Zero has bubble teas down to a science. Whether you go with a fruit or tea flavor, they will have it out to you soon. You can also get rolled ice cream and crepes too.

Nothing really replaces going to your favorite bar or pub with friends, but healthier choices doesn’t mean you can’t still treat yourself occassionally.
