Olympia Cafe has been part of Savannah’s River Street story for roughly 30 years, but this week brought confirmation that the beloved Greek restaurant will not return to its longtime home in the Thomas Gamble Building behind City Hall.
In this unscheduled episode, Jesse Blanco walks through the history, the public outcry over Olympia’s lease, the City of Savannah’s renovation plans, and the reason the restaurant ultimately will not reopen in that original space.
