Pielands – New pizza place in Virginia-Highland’s area

We love a good pizza place. Now folks in the Virginia-Highland area of Atlanta have a new place to check out.  Pielands — offering pizza, subs, and wine – opened this week in the former Goin’ Coastal space at Virginia and North Highland Avenues.

Pielands is the brainchild of Billy Streck who is also behind restaurants like Atlanta’s Nina & Rafi,  Hampton + Hudson, and Lyla Lila. His plans for this new restaurant include serving whole pies, individual slices, salads, Italian-style subs, beer, wine, specialty bottled cocktails, and old-school soft serve ice cream. You can check out the full menu here.

If you’ve been waiting for an old-school neighborhood pizzeria, Streck said this is your place. There will be plenty of grab-and-go items as well as casual table and bar seating available.

“First and foremost, Pielands will be a neighborhood destination that truly embodies a family vibe and sense of community,” says Streck. “We want to get to know our customers on a first name basis, and we’re thrilled to get to know the families of Virginia-Highland, Morningside and beyond.”

Streck said he grew up in a New York pizzeria with his dad and grandfather and hopes to create a community gathering place with Pielands. His motto with the staff is, “We strive to treat our customers as regulars and our regulars as family.”
