It’s an overused cliché for sure, but in this case the it is actually the perfect way to sum up the news we got a few days ago that a longstanding Downtown Savannah pub would be closing their doors. For good, ending an 18 year run on Congress Street downtown.
The news was made official with a statement via social media on Wednesday.
“All good things must come to an end. After many months of deliberation, it is with great sadness and a heart full of gratitude that we’ve decided to close our DOWNTOWN location. We have made unforgettable memories and friends in the last 18 years here. We want to thank you all for your continued support. We are devastated, but feel this is what’s best for us at this time. The last night to enjoy a drink with us will be September 24th. We look forward to seeing you at our Pooler and Richmond Hill locations! Cheers!
Debbie and Daniel
The news came as a shocker to a lot of regulars and fans of the pub-both in Savannah and elsewhere-that established a ton of memories in the space, Savannah’s original Scottish Pub and is another indicator of the slowly changing face of downtown Savannah.
As they mentioned, Molly’s locations in suburban Pooler and Richmond Hill, Georgia will remain open.
