Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.
A local Savannah television news anchor is given an idea for a cooking show on Tybee Island. Late that night at Doc’s Bar the concept is discussed. Three months later, a wise lady suggests the broadcaster start writing a blog about food. If the blog went well, he could launch a television show about food in the region.
That was over a dozen Summers ago. Time sure flies when you are watching your girlish figure.
So why have I gathered us here together today? Truthfully, it’s just a quick thank you. We purchased the eatitandlikeit.com web domain in Summer of 2010, but it wasn’t until February 3, 2011 that we launched this website.
Nine months and a ton of hard work later, September 24, 2011 to be exact, we launched our television show.
A decade of local television is hard to do. Building a brand to go along with it has been the hardest thing I have ever done. Likely will ever do. I sure hope nothing harder comes along.
But if it does, it will be worth it. As this journey has been. Eating great food, yes, but more importantly, meeting amazing people along the way.
That wise lady I mentioned above never cared much for anniversary celebrations. We don’t need fireworks or Jesse riding up Broughton Street on an elephant. Your support really is all we need and we are incredibly grateful for all of it.
If you cannot tell, I’m having a blast with no plans to slow down any time soon. All the opposite actually, but more on that another time.
