Lulu’s Chocolate Bar: Whitemarsh Island begins lunch service

There’s been quite a bit of buzz on the islands in Savannah the last couple of weeks. The opening of Auspicious Baking Company’s new location on the islands has-for very good reason-taken up a lot of the oxygen in the room. That opening has been highly anticipated.

Right down the street, on a much quieter note, the ladies of Lulu’s Chocolate Bar have begun daily lunch service at their Whitemarsh Island location on Highway 80. The move was in direct response to requests from the neighborhood.

“We had a lot of people asking us to offer lunch.” says Janine Finn, co-owner of Lulu’s. “We realized there was a little bit of a void when J. Thomas Kitchen closed.”

Lulu’s is located in the space formerly occupied by the very popular J. Thomas Kitchen.

The menu at Lulu’s is on the small side. Sandwiches (featuring house made breads), salads and soups. There is no re-inventing of the wheel. Lulu’s expanded into this space in order to centralize their production and baking operations. The fact that someone is already in the building makes it easy to just go ahead and open for lunch.

Additionally, they are offering beer and wine plus any of their signature desserts.

Options are always good if you are in that part of town. This is another good one. Lulu’s Chocolate Bar downtown on MLK, Junior Blvd has been a staple for the downtown crowd for over a decade.

They are open 6 days a week beginning 11:30am. Closed Sundays.
