Barnacle Bill’s Seafood Market is the flagship business in a well kept foodie secret at Hilton Head.  You may have been driven by this iconic sign on William Hilton Parkway between Folly Field Beach Rd and Shelter Cove but you may not know about all that this food stop has to offer!

The Seafood Market

Barnacle Bill’s is home to a fresh seafood market which owns ZERO freezers and gets 16 fresh seafood deliveries per week.  Owner, Greg Berkes, told me they receive a variety of locally caught fish including mahi mahi, grouper, flounder, swordfish, and red snapper.  The offerings vary depending on what has been caught recently by local fishing boats so it’s best to call before you go if you’re looking for something in particular.  Other seafood options include local shrimp, fresh oysters, mussels, scallops and clams.  During the summer months, the fresh produce stand at Barnacle Bill’s can help supply you with some other fresh ingredients to round out your seafood feast!

3 Food Trucks

If you’d rather have someone else cook your seafood, then check out the two food trucks located behind Barnacle Bill’s.  Euro Food Express offers grilled garlic shrimp, flounder and mahi mahi to diners sourced from Barnacle Bill’s market.  If you’re looking for a taste of Europe, try their chicken paprikash or beef stew with pasta.  I enjoyed a great lunch of garlic butter shrimp, tangy coleslaw and waffle fries.  The chefs take great care with their food and are happy to share it with others!

The food truck, Jahmerican Jerk, allows guests to enjoy a meal from an island even more south than Hilton Head… Jamaica.  Menu highlights include a variety of chicken plates like jerk, curry and brown stew chicken.  Diners can also enjoy oxtail or fresh seafood baskets.  The dining area for both food trucks has picnic tables, shade and offers a great view of the marsh.

The final spot to try out is the District 10 Coffee Co trailer parked next to Barnacle Bill’s (photo above).  Bicyclist visitors are lining up for this coffee spot and ordering espressos, lattes, and cappuccino to kick off their morning at Hilton Head or to help fuel the rest of their bike ride.  They are open Monday- Saturday from 7AM-2PM.
