Hilton Head Island Italian Heritage Festival returns Saturday

We caught up with Paul Ciamano, Festival Chairman, with the Italian Heritage Festival this week. He was enjoying a long drive. At least we assumed he was.

“I’m driving to Morgantown, West Virginia to pick up 420 pepperoni rolls”

That’s dedication.

Saturday, Paul and his team will host the 12th Italian Heritage Festival at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island. The event is incredibly popular. They are expecting roughly 3500 people between 11am and 4pm.

Guests will enjoy 63 booths including food and non food as well as a silent auction and a beer tent and a wine tent.

A number of booths will be dedicated to traditional Italian foods, such as cheeses, breads, pasta, fish, meatballs, sausage, and calzones, and delicious sweets, including Italian ice, gelato, biscotti and zeppolis – many sponsored by local restaurants.

Live music will be provided by a 23 piece orchestra.

Entertainment will also include a pizza eating contest and a grape stomping contest. A children’s zone will include face painting and other entertainment for the kids.

Admission is six dollars. Children under 10 are free. That does not include any food or drink. Those prices are left to individual vendors. There is no ‘ticket system’. The event is held by the Italian American Club of Hilton Head Island, a non-profit organization. All profits go to local charities on Hilton Head Island and Bluffton. Last year seven scholarships were award. The same is expected this year.

Tickets can be purchased in advance by clicking here.

And there will be lots of pepperoni.
