HHI’s One Hot Mama’s moving to new home
Call it a restructuring. Call it a shuffling of the deck. Call it whatever you’d like, but there will be some movement this Fall for some Hilton Head Island restaurants. SERG Group, the island’s largest employer announced their plans to move one restaurants, close another and restructure a third all in one fell swoop over the next few months.
The news had been rumored for a little bit, but it was made an official via social media this week.
One Hot Mama’s, Orchid Paulmeier’s very popular BBQ and wing spot will be leaving Reilley’s Plaza (commonly known as “The Triangle) and moving into the space where SERG’s Nectar (HHI location) is. Nectar Hilton Head will close October 1st. Marley’s Shrimp and Burger shack will be renovated with a ‘new indoor outdoor bar concept.’
Alan Wolf, President of The Serg Restaurant Group, said they’d had been looking to move One Hot Mama’s for years but had been unable to because restrictions with their leases. The timing is now right and they are making the move.
It helps that they’ve owned the building they are moving into since 2006. The rent at Riley’s Plaza, we are told, is sizeable. No surprise there.
Wolf says Nectar’s island location will return, albeit in a smaller location. An active search for that location is underway. Nectar’s Old Town Bluffton location is not affected by these changes.
For it’s part, One Hot Mama’s (which also has a Bluffton location) will not change at all, just move. Their BBQ and wings have been among the island’s best for years.
The changes will begin the first week of October.
