HHI’s Java Burrito Company coming to Broughton Street

Sometimes it takes a minute for news to become ‘officially official’ but in this instance, it would be fair to say that it is.

Hilton Head Island’s very popular Java Burrito Company is setting up shop downtown Savannah. They have applied for an alcohol license for the space at 420 East Broughton Street. The space formerly occupied by The 5 Spot on Broughton owned by Savannah’s Gaslight Group.

Java Burrito Company has earned as reputation on the island as one of Hilton Head Island’s most popular lunch/coffee spots. During their busy season, it is not uncommon to have a line out the door of the spot at The Village at Wexford.

They serve burritos and tacos of course, but other breakfast bites as well as desserts. They also feature a significant coffee menu (and some alcoholic offerings).

The space downtown Savannah is significantly larger than their Hilton Head Island location, so it stands to reason that there will be an expansion of the concept. But that is unconfirmed.

Speaking of confirmation, we are in the process of tracking Java Burrito down and will share what we can when we can.

For its part, The 5 Spot concept never really matched it’s Habersham Village popularity downtown. They are in the process of opening a 5 Spot in Savannah’s Sandfly neighborhood.
