Heritage Fire National Tour Returns to Savannah

There are many of you out there eager for the return of a food festival here in Savannah. We know this, you know this, anyone in Savannah who appreciates great food and drink knows this. So why haven’t we seen anything resembling a big-time food festival return to this city since the Savannah Food and Wine Festival quietly floated away half a decade or so ago?

Answering those questions would take a minute. Thankfully, we’ve something comparable, albeit smaller, to enjoy at the end of this month. It’s called The Heritage Fire Tour, a nationally renowned event that promises to bring out some of Savannah’s best culinary talent. It will be back in Savannah for its 3rd year on Sunday, June 29th at the Pit and Paddock Grounds near the Westin Savannah Harbor on Hutchinson Island.

Heritage Fire started in Napa, California in 2010 and was an instant hit. The tour centers around live-fire cooking, local chefs, and community engagement. Since then, it has expanded to 13 stops across America including here in Savannah, obviously and a stop in Charleston in the Fall.

The talent at Heritage Fire features local chefs including Husk’s Jacob Hammer, Emporium Kitchen’s Miguel Bautista, Okan’s Bernard Bennett, and many others.   You can see their running list of local talent here.

I was there last year and can tell you that every bite I had was excellent.   My group debated best bites, but it was an interesting discussion…the point being, that the offerings were excellent and you are able to enjoy as much as you’d like for one price. The same goes for the beverage options. Tickets are all-inclusive.

The event is a competition with guests getting to vote. As such, the talent involved takes the day very seriously. These are high-quality eats you will enjoy at Heritage Fire.

The event starts at 3:30 pm on the 29th for VIP ticket holders. General Admission tickets enter 45 minutes later at 4:15 pm. It wraps up with the announcement of the day’s winner at 7:00 pm.   Find more information here.
