First Look: Hilton Head Island’s Brand New Quarterdeck Restaurant

By the time it is done, it will undoubtedly be the biggest restaurant story of 2022 on Hilton Head Island and maybe beyond.

When you tear something down as iconic as the Quarterdeck Restaurant and building an entirely new one, that has a way of getting people’s attention. And it has.

I was given a tour a couple of weeks ago to check on its progress and get a feel for when we might be able to start Eating and Liking again.

For starters, the new building it massive. Seating at this Quarterdeck will double what they had before with an emphasis on views everywere. Indoor and outdoor seating and enough deck space to handle several parties at one time. When I tell you this is massive….I’m telling you this is very large.

The side entrance will feature valet parking and a side entrance to their daily market and retail. The walls will be lined with goodies and swag, the kids will be tempted by over a dozen flavors of Haagen Dazs Ice Cream.

The walls will also be covered in local craft beers and wines that the adults can grab and go with to grab a seat overlooking the marina.

The main entry way will feature some soft seating for wating, but beyond that, some first floor seating and a huge U-shaped bar that will fit 16 right in the middle.

Up the main stairwell will be a raw bar with an oyster shucker on display at all times. And probably the best views in the house.

A smaller 2nd floor bar will face the Harbortown Yacht Basin and the ever popular 18th green across the way.

Back around the other side on the 2nd floor, more seating. Indoor and outdoor facing the Calibouge Sound. They will be the most popular seats at sunset no doubt, with the sun dipping below the horizon every day straight across the sound over Daufuskie Island.

We got a tour on February 19th

There’s a tucked away room for parties and corporate events. If you want to use those, there will be a food minimum tied to them, but they still will be very popular. How popular? They are being booked already and they don’t even have an opening date yet.

We can tell you that the new menu has been worked on for a couple of months and it is pretty much a done deal. State of the art equipment has gone into the kitchen in preparation for the kind of volume they’ve never seen here at Harbortown, maybe anywhere on the island.

Out front will feature a small walk up bar with seating and corn hole games for the kids for a wait, or a respite from a long day. Either or and you are all set.

The lighthouse and the Quarterdeck have been icons in this little corner of this island for over 40 years. No one will dispute that. But what has been done here is going change the face of Habortown for a very long time. You will now have one more big reason to come down here and stay for a while with your significant other and/or the kids.

This is now going to be an island destination. More importantly, you are very likely going to get to Eat It and Like It.

Look for them to open some time in April. Reservations are now being accepted beginning May 1st. Click here for more information on those.
