Eat It and Like It Season 9. New Day. New Time.

When you’ve been doing what we’ve been doing for as long as we’ve been doing this, then there comes a time when you start to struggle in your search for superlatives on those occassions when you are fortunate enough to share good cheer.

Last year the big news was our move to Savannah/Hilton Head’s leader in television, WTOC-TV at 11:30am on Sunday mornings. It was a big deal after 5 years at 7:30am. Some of you loved it, some of you did not.

We loved that news (because it meant growth) and we loved the news we are sharing with you this time around.

Eat It and Like It with Jesse Blanco is on the move again. We are still very much a part of WTOC-TV and darn proud to be, however, we are now going to air on a new day of the week and time of the day.

Beginning Saturday, September 7, 2019 you can find Eat It and Like It with Jesse Blanco Saturday nights 11:30pm immediately following WTOC News at 11:00pm.

Now, why are we so excited about that? There are a number of reasons actually.

For starters, WTOC is this area’s news leader. Their news ratings are a monster. This will be our strongest ‘lead-in’ to date. Our first ‘local’ lead-in. That matters.

We are well aware of the fact that so many of you that watch the show started your day with us on Sundays. If I had a nickel for every time I had someone tell me “We wake up, put a pot of coffee on, then crawl back in bed to watch the show.” I’d be a wealthy man right now. Once we moved out of that early morning spot, it became difficult for any of you to actually start your day with us.

A lot of you told me you can’t watch anymore because 11:30am on Sunday is the time you are in church. A lot of you told us you were off running your Sunday errands already and didn’t hang around to watch.

We’ve heard it all.

So when WTOC came to us a few months ago and said “whadda ya think?” We thought it was a win-win for everyone.

Not only do we think there is a better opportunity for casual television viewers to catch the show at 11:30pm on Saturday nights (especially during football season) but now those of you that record the show can watch it first thing Sunday morning like you used to. It just will have been recorded the night before.

Let’s be perfectly honest, outside of sporting events, the number of people who watch their favorite TV shows live anymore are plummeting. We are all consuming, but we are consuming on our schedules. There’s nothing wrong with that either.

We just hope you will continue to make time for us.

A quick word off appreciation before I get out of here. It is not lost on any of us for one second that we have built a solid brand in this region on the back of a television show that aired at the crack of dawn Sunday mornings. In TV land, that’s called ‘Siberia.’ No man’s land. But we took a shot, prayed that you’d watch and you have. Ratings today are as strong as they have ever been.

So thank you.

So as the kids say, that’s the ‘tee.’ We’ve got much MUCH more to share, but we will do that another time. For now, we are just thrilled to have our show air at night for the first time ever.
