Chef Whitney Otawka has already established herself as a Southern food creator.
She may have grown up in California, but it’s clear that the southeast coast is now home.
After living and working on Cumberland Island while also working on her cookbook “The Saltwater Table,” she is now the Executive Chef for Thompson Savannah at Eastern Wharf, a lifestyle hotel opening this year.
The ground floor restaurant will be Chef Whitney’s signature restaurant with her Southern cuisine featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients native to the Lowcountry. But her eye for food and drink will be felt all over the property since she will be overseeing menu development.
We can’t wait to see what she does.
Thompson Savannah is expected to open up sometime this summer.
