Unless you’re French, you may not think about Bastille Day, but Myrtle & Rose at Plant Riverside District plans to make it memorable this year.
On Wednesday, July 14th, the rooftop bar will offer Parisian-inspired live entertainment and French-themed food and drink specials.
According to Gonzague Muchery, the food and drink director for Plant Riverside District, you can expect drink specials made with sweet, fortified wines named in honor of the holiday. There will also be flavorful pâté, meats, and cheeses.
Bastille Day marks when the Bastille was stormed in 1789 to protest the rule of King Louis XVI and started the French Revolution.
Fun fact: French troops fought alongside American Colonists 10 years earlier to free Savannah from the British. While that didn’t exactly work out (just google Siege of Savannah), you can sort of think of Bastille Day as Fourth of July Part 2.
Bastille Day festivities will be from 5 to 8 p.m. and will be free and open to the public.
