Brochu’s Family Tradition named to Bon Appetit’s 24 best new restaurants

No surprise here, at all. If you’ve been there, and I know so many of you have, then you know.

Brochu’s Family Tradition, a laid back spot tucked away in a quiet corner of the Starland District, has been named to Bon Appetit Magazine’s 24 Best New Restaurants for 2023. A well deserved honor.

The annual list is the result of a coast to coast search for the best and most creative dishes in America. Brochu’s Whole Chicken Dinner was probably one of Savannah’s most talked about dishes earlier this year in the first few months they were open. It got Bon Appetit’s attention, as did their oysters, cabbages and assorted pies by the slice. Not to be overlooked is their dirty rice side dish (pictured below). Quite possibly one of my favorite local items I have eaten in the nearly 20 years I’ve lived here in Savannah.

Yeah, it’s that good.

Others named to the list range in location from Quincy, Massachusetts to Bainbridge Island, Washington. Atlanta’s Fish Monger with two locations was on it as well.

See the list of 24 here.

Brochu’s Family Tradition, headed by Chef Andrew Brochu and his wife Sophie (a Savannah native), opened in late 2022 and has very quickly become a locals favorite. Reservations are not always needed, but they are absolutely recommended. Especially now, following this latest honor.
