You would have to look deep into the history books to find a year where fire affected more Savannah restaurants as severely as it has this year. Thankfully, a downtown staple is set to re-open after a months long closure.
Belford’s Savannah in City Market will reopen on Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. for dinner service. The return comes 5 months after a small kitchen fire forced the restaurant to close back in April.
Known for its signature dishes such as the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake; Award Winning Shrimp, Greens and Grits; and Fried Green Tomatoes, Belford’s has been open in City Market since 1996.
Just last month, Midtown Savannah’s Oak 36 re-opened after a months long fire-related closure there.
Also last month, the very popular Pearl’s Saltwater Grille was destroyed by a massive fire. A rebuild there will take close to 2 years to complete.
Belford’s will open for lunch 11:30a-3:00pm and will offer dinner service from 4pm until 9pm. Sundays will feature a champagne brunch.
