Mimosas, biscuits and benedicts not your idea of a great brunch? You are in luck.
Preachers BBQ and Soul is beginning a brunch collaboration with The Garage at Victory North this Saturday. Nothing fancy, just exactly what you would expect. Or not.
Todd Harris is Executive Chef at The Garage at Victory North, one of the better new restaurants in town. Preachers BBQ is just his weekend side hustle.
“I grew up on BBQ and my dad was a preacher so it seemed like it would fit.” He said.
“We will be doing the foods I grew up with in Chicago.” he said. “When I moved to Savannah I thought I’d do some international foods because Savannah had plenty of soul food. But there is definitely a void.”
He believes there is always room for more. Especially with this approach for brunch. If it catches on, they hope to expand it to a food truck at some point.
The menu is listed below. It will feature standard BBQ pork and chicken, but it will also sides, and a variety of grits bowls. The menu will grow but you can count on Mac and Cheese and the BBQ to always be on it.
The 40 seat dining room at The Garage will serve as the staging for this weekend pop up, but Todd stresses it will be far more casual than their regular dinner service. Guests will be asked to order at the bar and their food will come out. Delivery will also be available via Grub Hub or Uber Eats.
So, as a full time chef and now a 2 day weekend pop up, when does Todd plan to sleep?
“We have a pretty good crew here at The Garage. If need time to prep on a Saturday night, they’ve got me covered. That is what is allowing me to do this.”
