A sweet new addition to Plant Riverside District

With the weather finally heating up in Savannah, there’s now a new place to cool off with a sweet treat. District Gelato is open at Plant Riverside District.

As implied by the name, District Gelato offers house-made gelato. Executive Pastry Chef Sarah Hernandez is the brains behind the creative confections.

“Currently, we have 24 flavors. We make everything in-house . Our gelato base is made with fresh milk and fresh eggs.”

She has made gelato at places like Gaylord Opryland in Nashville and at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Florida.

Some of the flavors include pistachio, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, mint chip, lemon sorbet, cookie dough, chocolate-hazelnut, pina colada.

Hernandez said one of their most popular flavors right now is Old Sweet Savannah with fresh bananas, house-made caramel sauce, and house-made pralines folded into it.

For those who aren’t gelato fans, there are plenty of other frozen and baked goods to please your sweet tooth. There are fresh-baked Italian cookies, biscotti, shakes, and sundaes.

District Gelato is located on the street level of Plant Riverside District’s Three Muses building and is open seven days a week.
