Where to Watch the World Cup Round of 32 in Savannah
While World Cup competition has been going on across North America for a few weeks, it is now that things are going to get exciting. The Round of 32 began play on Sunday in Los Angeles. Every match going forward is ‘win or go home’ there will be no more 0-0 draws. The stakes be raised, the drama intense. Of course, for the next 3 week anyway, until we put ‘futbol’ on the shelf and begin to prepare for ‘football’.
Either way, some spots in Savannah have done a great job getting into the World Cup spirit. I mean, ultimately, any bar with food and drink is a ‘watch spot’ but if you want ballyhoo….This is where you go.
Churchill’s Pub – Downtown Savannah
Right on Bay Street with a British pub pedigree, Churchill’s was practically built for World Cup season. Multiple screens, a full bar, and a menu that goes well beyond bar food make it a go-to destination for the downtown crowd looking to settle in for a full match day. Oh and during English or USA matches (that’s OR-not versus each other) free jello shot to everyone when either USA or England score a goal. 13 W Bay St, Savannah, GA 31401
Wexford Pub – City Market
Savannah’s Irish pub on Barnard Street brings the old-world atmosphere that makes soccer feel right at home. With outdoor seating, live music, and cold pints on deck, Wexford is the kind of place you walk into planning to catch one match and end up closing down. 27 Barnard St, Savannah, GA 31401
Crown and Anchor Pub
This British-style gem in Pooler punches well above its weight. Scratch-made food, authentic taps, and a proper pub atmosphere make it an ideal spot to catch the beautiful game. Expect a lively crowd and enough screen real estate to follow every match. 1215 US-80, Suite 200, Pooler, GA 31322
The Sexton Pub and Provisions
Tucked into the Starland District, Sexton is Savannah’s best-kept pub secret — intimate, authentic, and earning a near-perfect reputation fast. Guinness always on tap, genuinely Irish food, and a covered pet-friendly patio. A neighborhood gem that deserves to be packed for every World Cup match. 9 W 43rd St, Savannah, GA 31401
Savannah Tap House
Smack in the middle of Broughton Street, the Tap House brings a two-story setup with great screen coverage and a deep beer list to match. It’s a natural gathering spot whether you’re a serious supporter or just looking for a cold one and some group energy during a knockout round. 125 E Broughton St, Savannah, GA 31401
McDonough’s
Open until 3 a.m. and built for big crowds, McDonough’s is the loudest, most energetic option on this list. If your team scores late, you want to be here — the place erupts. Sports on every screen, drinks flowing, and a crowd that actually cares who wins. Throw enough beer at anything, it becomes an event at McDonough’s. 21 E McDonough St, Savannah, GA 31401
B&D Burgers
The massive outdoor screen at B&D on West Congress is practically legendary, and World Cup season only makes it better. I always say, during a big game? You hear B&D on Congress before you see it. Add chargrilled burgers worth building a meal around and you’ve got one of the most satisfying ways to spend a match day in downtown Savannah. 209 W Congress St, Savannah, GA 31401
Coach’s Southside
Everything Savannah sports fans love about Coach’s Corner on Victory Drive, is now available on the south side of town. Laid-back vibe, solid bar food, and screens everywhere you look. If you’re south of the city and don’t want to fight downtown traffic during a big match, this is your spot. 11215 Abercorn St, Savannah, GA 31419
