Captain’s Log: August 2025

It’s been a while since we’ve seen any movement around Savannah’s long LONG anticipated seafood spot coming to City Market, but we do have something to share now.

The Darling Oyster Bar, the Charleston Based seafood restaurant that had built out their new location in Savannah going back to 2023, appears ready to be taking next steps toward opening.

They’ve applied for an alcohol license with the City of Savannah. Their hearing will be on August 14th. A sign posting this information is required to be posted on the property. It is. Right out front.

It would appear the glacier is beginning to move in a positive direction.

Of course, no one associated with the project is talking, yet. That has been the case for a minute now. When I expressed excitement about this sentiment, all we were told was

“Can you believe it?”

At this point, I’m with all of you, I will believe it when I see it. But if you don’t believe in magic, then how do you know when you’ve found it?

If I had to bet someone a can of Diet Shasta Chocolate Soda, I’d bet we’ll see the doors open before the end of the year. Feel free to hold me to that.
