5 Great Hilton Head Island Burgers Not Named Tin & Tallow

Let’s be clear up front: Hilton Head Island has more than five burgers worth talking about. If we tried to list every one we love, we’d be here all day — and eventually someone would accuse us of skipping their favorite anyway. Trust me, it happens ALLLLL of the time.

But in honor of National Burger Day, we decided to list 5 burgers we love on the island. Not the only burgers we love on the island, just a handful that you have more than likely overlooked. And as always, it is not a ranking. It never is. Lastly, why no Tin and Tallow? The crowds they draw speak for themselves. Understandably, not everyone loves them, but they are the best burgers to come along in a hot minute. So, that established….here is the rest of our story.

Lincoln & South Brewing Company
Yes, it’s a brewery first, but don’t let the beer steal the whole show. Lincoln & South has become a legit stop for a good burger on Hilton Head, and the Vermont Burger (below) is the go-to (Sprout Momma brioche bun, CAB smashed patty, bacon jam, caramelized onion, goat cheese whipped with maple syrup from Solar Sweet Maple Farm, topped with Lincoln lemon vinaigrette)…. Beer, burger, island vibe — that’s a pretty strong argument.

Sundown Saloon
Sometimes you don’t need fancy. You need a cold drink, a comfortable seat, and a burger that understands the assignment. Sundown Saloon delivers exactly that, which is why locals keep it in the rotation, just ask one.

Char Bar
Maybe the most popular burger spot on the island. Everyone knows Char Bar, but if you don’t, you should. Plus, with a name like Char Bar, the burger better show up ready to play. It does. This is the spot when you want that classic burger-house energy: big flavor, good options, and no need to overthink it. Plus, you include Shrimp burgers and vegan options? Yeah, you get the picture.

Fraser’s Tavern
For a golf club, Fraser’s Tavern takes its craft burger program very seriously — and it shows. Not only are they responsible for the RBC Heritage “Champions Burger” ever year, but the creativity never stops. And oh by the way, the BBQ here at Fraser’s is quietly among the best on the island. Yes, it is. But start with the burger.

Chez Georges
Yes, Chez Georges. Known for a little more polish, a little more French flair, and a lot of good taste, but don’t sleep on the burger. Sometimes the best surprise on a menu is hiding in plain sight. Elegantly presented, with some of the best pomme frites on the island.
