3 Spots for your Summer Short List

Savannah/Hilton Head is home base, but as you know we talk about all kinds of spots for good food. If I find good eats, I’m going to tell you where they are. It’s that simple.

WTOC asked me for a short list of spots you should consider this Summer when you are looking for something different near the coast. You can watch the full segment on WTOC here for more detail but in the short term, here is the list:

Sea Pines Beach Club – Coast Restaurant – I’ve made no secret over the years that this is one of my favorite spots. A luxury atmosphere on the beach on Hilton Head Island. No you don’t have to be a member to eat there. It is open to the public. Burger and a beer or seafood towers, champagne and the whole nine. You can do it all there with unmatched views of the beach.

Sea Wolf – Tybee Island – Sea Wolf opened late Summer 2020 to rave reviews almost immediately even if most people weren’t venturing out to eat because of the shut down. Located on Campbell Avenue in the old Tybee Island Fish Camp space, Sea Wolf has the island’s most eclectic menu. Wagyu Hot Dogs, Plant Based meals, Oysters, Vegan Boards…plus a cocktail program that is easily the island’s best.

Gnat’s Landing – St Simons Island – Gnat’s Landing is not located on the beach, but any day trip (or weekend) to the Golden Isles should include a stop here if chicken wings and beers after a day at the beach are your thing. Double fried and then finished on the grill, they are huge and absolutely delicious. You can get ’em tossed in gnats sauce or Texas Pete. Very much worth a visit.
