SUMMARY:Farm to Table Cooking Class
DESCRIPTION:Kelly holds a BA in Communication Studies from Augusta University and a MA in Professional Leadership and Communication from Georgia Southern University. Additionally\, she is completing a Culinary Arts degree at the Savannah Culinary Institute at Savannah Technical College. \nFood has been at the epicenter of Kelly Morris’ life since childhood. Her fascination with food and its cultivation is derived from her family; her maternal family were farmers and her paternal family is laden with restaurateurs. \nKelly’s culinary journey began in her family’s seafood restaurant\, Captain Joe’s Seafood\, where food was the heartbeat of her upbringing. Spending her formative years surrounded by the sights\, sounds\, and smells of the restaurant\, she developed a deep appreciation for how food can bring people together\, sparking connections and building community.\nJoin us for this cooking demonstration and discussion focused on creating a refreshing\, seasonal gazpacho. Learn how to craft this vibrant\, chilled Spanish soup using fresh\, homegrown ingredients that highlight the peak of summer’s harvest. \nIn this class\, you’ll discover the art of blending tomatoes\, cucumbers\, peppers\, and herbs into a delicious and nutrient-packed dish\, perfect for hot days or any time you crave a light\, refreshing meal. Kelly will guide you through the steps of crafting the perfect gazpacho\, from selecting the finest ingredients to perfecting the balance of flavors. You’ll leave with the skills to recreate this dish at home and tips for using what’s in season to elevate your cooking year-round. \nDate: Saturday\, June 14th\nTime: 10:30am-12:30pm\nLocation: Savannah Hydroponics & Organics\, 4107 8th Street\, Suite C\, Garden City\, GA; right next to the Savannah State Farmers Market. \nRegistration Deadline: Wednesday\, June 11th\nCost: $50 per person* Register and submit your payment HERE: https://forms.gle/cFpjmCtKWq7vExuEA\n*Need-based scholarships available.
