We’ve Been Nominated For An Emmy!

Funny that this would be the quote that popped into my head two minutes after we found out that Eat It and Like It had been nominated for its first EMMY Award.  Only four nominees in the entire Southeast Region.  After it sunk in, I had to laugh.   So much hard work has gone into bringing you Eat It and Like It that one tends to get caught up in the big picture way too much.  “Enjoy the ride a little bit more”, I can hear myself say.   Trust me, I am.  Because we’ve already won.

Eat It and Like It is brought to you by a group of people who bust their backsides for long hours under sometimes difficult circumstances.  Yeah, we eat a lot…ha ha ha…..but there are days where many of us would pass up that great meal for a Saturday where we can sleep all day eating Oreos watching “Road House” or “Cocktail” on TNT.  But we love what we are doing…or we wouldn’t do it.  

Thanks to all of you for your support.  It truly is amazing that this show has been on the air for less than 8 months and we’ve grown to the point that we have.  It’s because of your visits to our website, because of support of the television show that we have been able to grow.  If I had a nickel for everyone who has said “Keep doing what you are doing”….I’d be able to retire.  No worries, we are.  Now it’s on to Atlanta on June 9^th for a black tie affair for what will hopefully be the ultimate prize.  For now at least.

You see my face on TV every week but I don’t do this alone.  Not even close….my right hand man (or woman in this case) is Senea Crystal…Managing Partner of Eat It and Like It.

Okay, okay…I had to get that little dig in!  When two people as strong willed as Jesse and I start a business, you can imagine how many heated arguments, shouting matches, and eye rolling conversations have occurred.  And there have been MANY!! However, not one aspect of Eat It and Like It isn’t thoughtfully discussed and planned out. 

Honestly, though it feels like ages, it wasn’t too long ago that Jesse and I were sitting outside of B. Matthews, scribbling on paper and talking about what Eat It and Like It could be.  What it could mean for us, for this city.  The overriding reason for everything we do is our love for this city and this part of the world.  And we truly believe we have something incredible to share!

I can’t tell you how many times I see random strangers approach Jesse and tell him how much they love the show or how many times we’ve heard from a restaurant that customers came in to try the place after seeing it on Eat It and Like It.  That gives us more pleasure than you can imagine and more joy than any award can bring.  As Jesse said, we’ve already won.  Now, do we want that trophy?  Uhhhhhh, YEAH!!  And if we win an Emmy, it will be as much in part because of your faith and support, as it is in the hard work of those involved with Eat It and Like It.
