Wet Willie’s set to open on Tybee Island

Truth be told I had myself a large “Call a Cab” just last weekend at Wet Willies on River Street.  On a hot summer day, it’s a nice refresher.   Now one on Tybee Island?  I think it is a perfect match.  And don’t underestimate their food.  I can only speak of River Street but their Chicken Quesadillas are among the best in town.    Here’s the full story:

Wet Willie’s Set to Open Newest Location on
Tybee Island on Friday, May 11

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Wet Willie’s, an award-winning national chain of daiquiri bars and full-service restaurants headquartered in Savannah, will open its newest location on Tybee Island on Friday, May 11. The Tybee Island restaurant and bar will be the company’s 15th Wet Willie’s location, complementing the popular flagship location which originally opened on River Street in downtown Savannah in 1989.
Located just steps from the ocean at 16Tybrisa Street, the new Wet Willie’s location will offer full-service brunch, lunch and dinner daily as well as to-go items for  picnics on the beach. All of the restaurant’s signature frozen drinks – including Call-A-Cab, Sex on the Beach and Attitude Improvement — will be available on a to-go basis as well.
“We love Tybee Island  and have wanted to open a Wet Willie’s location on the island for many years,” said Bill Dickinson, CEO of Wet Willie’s Management Corp. “We truly appreciate the support of the Tybee business community and Tybee residents. We’re delighted about our latest location and welcome area residents and visitors to experience the Wet Willie’s by the beach.”
The new location will offer a signature drink called the Tybee Sunset, which features a delicious swirl of Strawberry, Pina Colada and Naked Willie. The restaurant will offer favorite menu items like Famous Tequila Wings, Chicken Quesadillas and the Filet Mignon Sandwich. New selections unique to the Tybee Island location will include a fried shrimp platter and a fresh shrimp wrap.
“We’re really upped our menu in all of our locations,” said Emily Dickinson, director of marketing and human resources at Wet Willie’s. “The Tybee location will feature a fantastic brunch and convenient to-go options. We’re trying to adapt our model to make it a casual, beach-friendly location that appeals to locals and tourists alike. We really want to capture the flavor of the island.”
The Tybee Island Wet Willie’s also boasts an elaborate new street mural by acclaimed artist Bill Wrigley, who has created original murals at every Wet Willie’s location across the country for the past 23 years. The new mural fronts Tybrisa Street near the Sea Breeze Inn.
Wet Willie’s on Tybee Island will open daily at 10 a.m. The restaurant and bar will remain open until 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

  1. I’d love to go there and enjoy the beach with a drink but their “no credit card” policy has kept me from going in so many times I lost count. Wish they would come in to the 80’s.
