Vic’s on the River announces expansion

As if we needed any more signs of growth in Savannah, particularly its restaurant scene, another dining icon has announced their plans to expand.  Vic’s on the River, quite possibly Savannah’s best spot for waterfront fine dining, revealed plans to expand into the building to their right as you face the river. The new space will eventually provide 40 new seats in the main dining room on the Bay Street level. The full 3 story expansion will offer over 110 additional seats when you include the expansion of 5th floor banquet space. “It has been a long time coming.” says Sean Dylan, General Manager at Vic’s. “Whenever you purchase an older building, especially along the river, there are a good many things that can come up in a building that is that old.”

The adjacent building was built in 1858, so you don’t just walk in with hammers and cranes and start knocking walls down. The renovation and expansion will undoubtedly be a delicate and tedious project, especially when you consider Vic’s won’t close at all for the work. The plan as is stands now is to begin the build out over the summer and be ready for fall, 2016.

Upon completion, the 5th floor banquet area will be named Victor Hall and will offer sweeping views of the Savannah riverfront. It will be named for Dr. Irving Victor, one of the owners of the restaurant, known as Dr. Vic to a good many locals.

See you on TV,
