Update on The 5 Spot

We interrupt all of this chilly weather to give you an update on the latest and greatest from the people who brought you B. Matthew’s Eatery, Blowin’ Smoke BBQ and Blue Turtle Bistro.   Not long ago we told you long time favorite in Habersham Village, Clary’s, was closing down.  In its space was a new midtown ‘bistro’ of sorts.   The kind of place where you can relax for a while, watch a ball game and have some great food and drink at the same time.   The 5 Spot, as it will be called, was recently taken over by Brian and Jennifer Huskey and is in the middle of a makeover.  If you frequented Clary’s you won’t recognize the place.  “It’s a complete redesign” they tell me.  “Customers can expect new furniture and contemporary artwork during their dining experience.”   Translation?  One of Savannah’s favorite greasy spoons in Habersham Village is gone.  The 5 Spot will ofter some of your favorite comfort foods like meatloaf, macaroni ‘n cheese, even waffles and great vegetarian dishes.  It’s just the latest restaurant owner to take something that has worked traditionally, give it some polish and move it forward a little bit.

There will be a full liquor bar and lots of televisions if you want to watch a game.  Brian Huskey told me he’d like to see it become a favorite neighborhood spot.  Why not?  It sounds like it will be an inviting space to watch a game on Thursday night or Saturday afternoon before your short drive (or heck even walk if you live nearby) home.  “With The 5 Spot we are looking to become your favorite place for a fun, smart meal choice around the clock”, Jennifer says.  “A neighborhood kitchen serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.”

Can’t wait to see how this lastest space unfolds.  Brian and Jennifer have created quite a following around town.  I’m sure this one will be equally as fantastic.

Look for them to open mid-late November with a ‘Grand Opening’ after the 1st of the new year.

Til Next time,

See you on TV.
