“Things you have to explain to people who’ve never worked in kitchens”

kitchen articleI’ve said many, many, many times that I am not a chef. I have never had any formal training as a chef. Never taken any courses in a culinary program. My formal training comes down to one class I took as a birthday present at the now defunct Disney Institute. We made a yule log. Joy. I think I still have it. No, I don’t.

I’ve only spent 3-4 months of my life working in a restaurant, but I know plenty of people who have spent their entire adult lives in kitchens, in restaurants, in the Food and Beverage industry. I know enough about the business to know that the comedy you are about to read is absolutely true. There are 10 million lists out there about what it is really like to work in a restaurant. You know, that glamour job? This one is by far the best I have ever seen.

Slaving in a restaurant isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

See you TV.

  1. Loved the link. So true.
You should stop by Sly’s some time. We just opened on Friday. We’re selling $3 sliders and hand cut fries. Open 11-4 every day, we’re located at 33rd and Abercorn. Look for the yellow awning.
