The Grey to Host Outdoor Concert Series

Talk to anyone who has walked through the doors at The Grey (109 MLK Blvd) in Savannah, and two things grab the headlines. The great food of course, as well as the renovated space. The story of the renovated Greyhound Bus Station has been told dozens of times since their doors opened in December. There’s a worn out space in the floor where ticket buyers once stood in line, there’s a bar upfront that was a café once upon a time. Anyone who’s cared enough to learn about the history of the building has had no shortage of material to sift through. Heck, the firm that designed the new structure even won a James Beard Award for design. There has been no shortage of attention being paid to any of it. While all that has been settling in nicely in downtown Savannah, there’s been another “phase”, if you will, to what The Grey will bring to the Savannah community. We got another taste of that Thursday with the announcement that The Grey has teamed with Savannah Stopover to host an outdoor concert series.

“The Grey is about Savannah and The Yard embodies this in its total communal nature. What better way to make people happy than by offering some tasty food, affordable drinks and high quality music? As a fan, I am looking forward to this”, says John Morisano, owner of The Grey.

There has been talk about lunch service at some point in the future. With that in mind, Morisano and Executive Chef Mashama Bailey introduced Saturday afternoon lunches in “The Yard.” For $7, guests can enjoy a meal outdoors at The Grey. It’s a way for this unique space to connect with the entire community and give everyone a chance to enjoy the restaurant that has brought so much national attention to downtown Savannah. This concert series is a reflection of that.

The concert series will begin on Father’s Day, June 21st, with Great Peacock, a Nashville band making their Savannah debut. On Saturday, July 11th, Thomas Wynn and The Believers will be featured. Future dates in August, September, and October have been locked in, but musical guests have yet to be finalized.

Tickets to The Yard will cost $21 and will include food, music, and one drink. Either beer, wine or good ol’ Chatham Artillery Punch. Admission will be first come, first served. And yes, we are expecting these events to be very popular and a whole lot of fun.

For more information between now and the first show on the 21st, you can visit Facebook pages for The Grey or Savannah Stopover.

See you on TV.
