Thank You Savannah and Hilton Head Island!

I’ve lasted twenty plus years in television news because I love meeting people.  Whether it was sports at the beginning of my career or news thirteen years in, one common factor for me is I truly enjoy meeting new people, telling their stories and sharing their passions, whatever form they may take.  It just so happens that the last three or so years I’ve made people’s passion for cooking and food the center of my attention span.

I share that with you because I get stopped on the street all the time.  AAALLL the time.  Numerous times per day.  Either by people who love my column in the Savannah Morning News, or by people who love my television show on Sunday mornings.  Sometimes, it’s both.  Frankly, I’ll take it either way.

When someone takes the time to say hello, I see it as an endorsement of what we are doing.  Lately, there have been a lot of people endorsing and it’s all become a crazier ride than we thought could be at this point in our Eat It and Like It journey.

I spent a week on Hilton Head Island during the Hilton Head Island Wine and Food Festival and had an extraordinary amount of people approach me and tell me they were big fans of my show.  That surprised me really because while we have plans to spent LOTS more time on the Island, we have only spent a tiny bit on the Island to this point.  Again, much more to come.

That’s the long way of saying thank you.  Thank you to everyone who takes a moment to say hello.  To tell me they love what we are doing.  Tell me they enjoy my column or the TV show or this website.  Any of it.  Thank you.

We found out this week that our numbers are in for Neilsen’s February 2014 ratings period and Eat It and Like It performed very well in our Sunday morning, 7:30am, time slot.  I won’t bore you with a lot demographic mumbo jumbo, but suffice it to say our show and our audience is growing.  In some cases, pretty dramatically.  Again, thank you.  Small battles, yes, but when you build something from the ground up, it’s always nice to know people appreciate the time and hard work.

There is much, MUCCCCH more to come from Eat It and Like It land.  Trust me on that one.  Plans for several new episodes before by Memorial Day.  You are in for a treat.

Thank you Savannah and Hilton Head Island for coming along on this incredible ride.  I have to laugh though because we are really just getting started.  Now do me a big favor…

Tell your friends.   Let’s really blow this thing out!

See you on TV.

Jesse
