Season 3 Episode 5 – Breakfast and Brunch

While some people are happy with a simple cup of coffee and a bagel, others prefer the indulgences of the big breakfast.  Pancakes or waffles, omlettes or benedicts, it’s hard not to enjoy the offerings that typically come first thing in the morning.  Especially if its the weekend or you are on vacation.  In this episode of Eat It and Like It, we take you inside some of Savannah and Hilton Head Island’s best.

Palmetto Bay Sunrise Cafe – Hilton Head Island
Patrick Stewart and his wife Leslie have an almost a best of all world’s scenario with their little corner of the world.  Very popular with the locals year round and especially with tourists in the Summer.  Eggs Benedict in several different forms are the most popular dish, in large part because of their housemade hollandaise sauce.  But it’s all great.   In a great atmosphere.  Just be prepared to wait.

Belford’s Steaks and Seafood – Savannah
Belford’s is arguably Savannah’s most popular spot for people watching.  Sits at the end of City Market in Savannah’s historic district, it is not uncommon to see people sitting outside enjoying a meal day or night.  We love their brunch.  Crab cakes are very popular, but the pancakes are actually some of the best in the city.  With scenery and historic location to match.

Aqua Star at Westin Savannah Harbor
The Westin gets our vote for best Brunch in the area.  It’s high end.  It’s extravagant and it’s exceptional.  You can find practically anything at this buffet.  Eggs of course, waffles, sushi, fresh seafood, and specialty dishes like pan seared buffalo skirt steak or chicken with mushrooms and raspberries.  Oh yeah, then there’s dessert.  Bananas Foster, anyone?  Yes.  All you can eat.  Even champagne at 12:30pm.

Breakfast Club – Tybee Island
The Breakfast Club is legendary.  Sits out on the beach (actually about half a block from the sand) and just consistently turns out probably the best breakfast in Chatham County.  The locals know it well.  Visitors are hooked after one visit.  Easy to see why people line up for this one.

Tortugas Grille – Savannah
Tortugas is owned by a husband and wife who visited Savannah once upon a time and fell in love.  Shortly thereafter they sold the house and headed South.  This is one of those spots that unless you know, you just don’t know.  Great brunch including the Wilbur Scrambler.

Other great brunches in Savannah and Hilton Head (not mentioned in episode).
