For those of us that love ice cream, it has become as much a staple on the yearly calendar as any other going-on in downtown Savannah except for maybe the Food and Wine Festival and maybe the March parade we throw mid-month. Of course, I am talking about Leopold’s Ice Cream’s Annual Block Party and Anniversary Celebration coming Saturday, August 20th in front of their Broughton Street store.
If you’ve attended in the past, the festivities are largely the same. Stratton and Mary have, however, made every effort to cut down on lines for ice cream and provide shade and non-stop entertainment including music, dance groups, face painting and much more for those in attendance. Yes, there will be plenty of ice cream. Scoops will sell for 97 cents in honor of their anniversary.
The best part? It is all free. Except for the ice cream of course.
Log on to Leopold’s website for more information. Meantime, here is a schedule of their events.
