Unlike what you see in the grocery stores or at the big box warehouse stores, around here we find it hard to talk about Valentine’s Day before February 1st. It just seems incredibly out of place, but then, who are we to stand in the way of good ol’ fashioned capitalism, right?
Ok, calendar has flipped and we are going to let you know about a few options you may not otherwise think of when it comes to your significant other on the official “Happy Significant Other” day. The first is Savannah Technical College’s Bistro Savoir Sweetheart Sale.
Savannah Tech has been running this sale for a few years now. Typically around the holidays, just before Thanksgiving, and then again right about now. Their Valentine’s Day Bake Sale is probably one of the best values in the area on handmade chocolates, truffles, breads, tarts and more. All of the treats made by students in Chef Jean Vendeville’s Culinary Arts program at Savannah Tech. They are all excellent. Best part is they come at fraction of the price of what you’d pay somewhere else.
The menu of items to choose from isn’t huge. At the end of the day, these are students who are filling all of the orders they take. There will be no one working around the clock to get it all done. Well, maybe. If that’s what it takes. Their sweets are very much worth you taking a look at as you enter into ‘sweets’ season for your sweet or co-workers in the office.
