Kentucky Club Margarita

Forget the fancy glass...just pour that drink. Felicidades!

Before it was not smart to cross the border into Juarez, Mexico I enjoyed a margarita or two at the Old Kentucky Club. It is said to be the place where the margarita was invented. It is a fantastic old bar. In a downtown area surrounded by blight, it is an oasis and a tribute to yesterday. Before violence ruled the streets in Mexico’s 4th largest city, Marilyn Monroe visited the Kentucky Club. As did Ronald Reagan and John Wayne. If they were there for the margaritas….well then you should try one. This is how they do it.

Kentucky Club Margarita

• lime juice
• 1⁄2 oz. Cointreau
1. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a chilled margarita glass; dip the rim in salt to coat.
2. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, and 1 cup crushed ice. Cover and shake vigorously to chill; strain into the glass
