Random Ruminations January 12th

Running off at the keyboard while trying to decide what is for dinner tonight.

*It has been a while since we gathered for a heaping helping of ruminations. I always ruminate, so I am glad to share. Happy New Year to everyone. Here’s a joyful and prosperous 2019!

*Of course, I do need to lead off with the 600 pound elephant in the room. Eat It and Like Its Restaurant Weeks are underway across Savannah. We are thrilled to have 22 restaurants on board in our inaugural effort for Restaurant Weeks. Some of the best in town.  See the full list of participating restaurants by clicking here.

*I also should mention, I am taking two more lucky winners to dinner for the next two weeks.  Our “Dinner with Jesse” contest has been very well received.  Friday night, I had the other of dining with Mary Catherine Finnerty of Savanah. We had a fantastic meal at 1540 Room at The DeSoto Hotel.  Click here to find out how to enter.

*Speaking of dinner at 1540. An exceptional dining experience. We loved every bite of it.  Their Restaurant Week menu is wonderful. You should give them a look before February 2nd. Or even after for that matter. That kitchen is in very good hands. More on that soon.

*After a fire New Year’s weekend that forced a complete shut down at The Olde Pink House, I am hearing they  COULD…..I am stressing COULD begin their re-open with Planters Tavern around February 1st.

*Missed my Top5 Bites of 2018? Click here to see the very short list. Five obviously.  Ha ha. Every day food. Nothing fancy. Tacos, burgers and more.

*I am asked regularly about La Scala. The new Italian spot in Savannah’s Victorian District. Finally was able to stop in for a few bites last week and loved it.  Every bite. Looking forward to getting back there very soon. Highly recommended.

*We are a few weeks away from Whiskey Wine and Wildlife. A fabulous oceanfront food event on Jekyll Island. The last two years have sold out. Make plans to join us February 7-10. Find all you need to know right here.

*Speaking of February, we are in a short re-run period of our television show. New episodes of Eat It and Like It with Jesse Blanco will resume Super Bowl Sunday, February 3rd. You can catch up on all of the others via ROKU TV app as well.

*Catch our 1st true episode of Drink It and Like it on February 10th.

*Fans of 520 Wings should know that Gary Gordon is mid-build out on 520 Tavern. A new spot he is opening on Savannah’s Southside. 8820 Abercorn Street. Just south of Montgomery Cross Road. Coming soon.

*After a well-earned holiday break, Olive and Fig Mediterranean Kitchen has re-opened in Bluffton. If you haven’t visited yet, this needs to be on your short list. A wonderful spot where NEO Hilton Head used to be on 278 near the bridge.

*Also in Bluffton, their 1st Restaurant Week is coming April 8th. Click here to read more about that.

*Stay in the loop. Sign up for our newsletter. You can do so on our website homepage. eatitandlikeit.com. Or be sure to follow us on social media. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. We are very active there and always sharing news and information.

*Finally, my mother always insisted that I say thank you. Sometimes sending me back to someone who I didn’t thank for their kindness. So, if you feel like I thank everyone for your support a little too much, its a habit 45 plus years in the making. Tough to break. Here’s to 2019!  And thanks for stopping by.
